* TASK 1:
- T asks ss to read about statements then choose the advantages and disadvantages of various sources of energy.

Week: 23 Period: 67 Date: 20/ 01 /2014 UNIT 11: SOURCES OF ENERGY LESSON 2: SPEAKING I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to talk about advantages and disadvantages of energy sources and express their own ideas about alternative source of energy. II.TEACHING AIDS: textbook, pictures, handout. III.PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities I.WARM- UP Pictures - T asks ss to work in groups of two and answer the questions What sources of energy are in the pictures? Is it limited or unlimited? What should we do to be sure that we can continue to use it in the future? - T leads into the lesson. II. WHILE- SPEAKING TASK 2: Substitution - T asks ss to work in groups of four or five to express their belief on the increasing use of alternative sources in the future, using the ideas in task 1 Useful language : Expressing ideas - I think ... - I believe ... - In my opinion - Personally... - I don't think ... Example: A: I believe that the use of solar energy should be the alternative source of energy in our country B: I agree with you. It is the most feasible way to have solar energy in our country because Vietnam is a tropical country - T walks around to help ss if necessary. - T asks ss to stand up to talk again loudly - T listens and corrects mistakes IV. POST –SPEAKING Making conversations - T asks ss to make a conversation, using the passive voice of should to combine the ideas in activity 1 with activity 2 - T models the conversation with a student. - T gets ss to do the same, looking at their partner when they speak. - T calls some pairs to the front of the class to act out the conversation. - T gives feedback. V. HOMEWORK T asks ss to learn vocabulary and prepare the next lesson - Work in groups. - Look at the pictures and answer the T’s question. - Go to the board and write their answers quickly àExpected answer Gas, petroleum, solar energy, wind energy, coal, hydroelectricity. Gas, Petrol, and Coal are limited. Solar energy, wind energy, and hydroelectricity are unlimited. It’s up to the students Listen to the T’s instruction and contribute to the lesson. Practice reading the new words. Listen and repeat. Copy down. - Read about statements then choose the advantages and disadvantages of various sources of energy. -Say out the ideas in class. àExpected answer 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 à disadvantages 4, 6- advantages - Work in groups to make the dialogue. - Give the answers in class. Model A: I think that more and more people will use the solar energy. B: Why do you think so? A: Because it’s available, unlimited and easy to use. C: But it’s expensive and we can only have it at specific time of the year. A: I hope that the progress of science and technology will help to overcome this problem. B: That’s right and then we don’t have to worry about the shortage of energy. C: And our life will be more comfortable with cheap simple devices run on the solar energy - Take notes and do the task. - Work in pairs to make a conversation. Sample conversation S1: Do you know these days people are cutting down a lot of trees in the forrest for wood? S2: Yes, I do / Oh, relly? I thinhk laws should be introduced to stop people from cutting trees for wood S1: You're right. And planting trees should be encouraged - Do the task.
