A. Objectives:

By the end of the period, students will be able to recognize and listen and say the words with the sound /ai/.

B. Teaching aids: Textbook, chalk, board, computer, speaker, ect.

C. Procedures:

Warm-up: (5’)

Have the class play a game to revise the words in Lesson 1.

2. Point and say. (8’)

Aim: students will be able to recognize and say the words with the sound /ai/.

- Have them look at the pictures and point to the pictures and students say the words.

 - Get them to point to each of these pictures and say the words.

- Ask pupils to say the words chorally and individually. Call some students to point to the pictures and say the words aloud.

- Correct their mistakes.

3. Chant. (12’)

Period 7. UNIT 3: ON THE STREET
Lesson 1
Objectives: 
By the end of the period, students will be able to pronounce the letter “i” and the sound /ai/ in words: Mike, slide, bike, five.
Teaching aids: Textbook, chalk, board, computer, speaker, ect. 
C. Procedures:
Warm-up: (5’)
Have the class say a chant in Lesson 3
Listen, point and repeat. (30’)
- Aim: students will be able to pronounce the letter “a” and the sound /ei/ in words: Mike, slide, bike, five.
- Have them look at the four pictures and set the context. 
- Play the recording a few times for pupils to listen and point.
- Let students listen and point to the letter and repeat.
- Students listen and repeat the words.
- Point to some words for students to repeat. Check some students and correct their pronunciation.
- Students point and say the letter, sound and words.
- Have students work in teams/ in pairs
- Organize for students to play games to practise: Slap the board, Hiding pictures, Who is fast and right? Fast eye/ Fast mouth
- Guide students to do some exercises in students’execise book if there’s time.

Period 8. UNIT 3: ON THE STREET
Lesson 2
Objectives: 
By the end of the period, students will be able to recognize and listen and say the words with the sound /ai/. 
B. Teaching aids: Textbook, chalk, board, computer, speaker, ect. 
C. Procedures:
Warm-up: (5’)
Have the class play a game to revise the words in Lesson 1.
2. Point and say. (8’)
Aim: students will be able to recognize and say the words with the sound /ai/. 
- Have them look at the pictures and point to the pictures and students say the words.
 - Get them to point to each of these pictures and say the words. 
- Ask pupils to say the words chorally and individually. Call some students to point to the pictures and say the words aloud.
- Correct their mistakes. 
3. Chant. (12’)
Aim: students will be able to practise the sound /ai/ and the words with this sound through the chant. 
- Tell pupils that they are going to say the chant. Play the recording a few times for pupils to do choral and individual repetition. 
- Show them how to chant and do actions. Have students to chant in pairs. 
- Organize for students to chant with the teacher and then team A and team B (paragraph 1- paragraph 2)
- Have students to work in pairs to practise chanting and doing actions. Go around and offer help, if necessary.
- Call three pairs to the front of the class to chant and do actions. The rest of the class claps along to the rhythm.
4. Listen and tick. (10’)
Aim: students will be able to listen and tick the correct boxes to choose the pictures.
- Tell the class that they are going to listen and tick the correct boxes under the pictures. Show pupils how to carry out the task and tick the box as this is the first time they do this kind of task. Draw their attention to the pictures. Elicit the names of the characters/objects. Have pupils repeat them once or twice.
- Play the recording three times for pupils to listen, do the task and check their answers. 
- Get pupils to swap and check their answers before checking as a class.
