- Let Ss play the game Knowledge Game-short answers.
- Tell Ss to work with another partner to answer the following questions about general understanding.
- Play the game.
- Work in pairs. (The pair with the most correct answers will be the winner.)

2/ Exercise: (25’)
- Ask Ss to use relative pronouns "who, which, that" to answer the questions. Start with the words given like the example.
Example:

- Call on some Ss to read their whole sentences. 
- Do exercise, then compare the answers with a partner.

1. Relative clause with “who / which / that”:
* Who: duøng thay cho töø quan heä chæ ngöôøi (ex: the boy, the girl, the man, the woman, ) vaø laøm chuû ngöõ cuûa meänh ñeà quan heä.
EX: Tom is the boy who plays the guitar. 
* Which: duøng thay cho töø quan heä chæ vaät hay söï vieäc ôû vò trí chuû ngöõ vaø taân ngöõ.
EX: My brother works for a company which makes cars.
* That: ñöôïc duøng thay cho danh töø chæ ngöôøi vaøvaät. THAT coù theå duøng thay cho WHO, WHICH trong meänh ñeà quan hệ xác định (mệnh đề không có dấu “,”)
EX: Tom is the boy who plays the guitar, à Tom is the boy that plays the guitar

* Coù hai loaïi meänh ñeà quan heä:
a- Defining Relative Clause – Meänh ñeà quan heä xaùc ñònh: laø moät thaønh phaàn cuûa caâu; noù xaùc ñònh cho từ phía trước neân caàn thieát cho yù nghóa cuûa caâu vaø khoâng theå boû ñöôïc.
EX: Do you know the man who has just come in?
 The book which you lent me was very interesting.
b- Non-Defining Relative Clause – Meänh ñeà quan heä khoâng xaùc ñònh: laø phaàn theâm vaøo ñeå giaûi thích hay theâm thoâng tin cho từ phía trước khoâng coù noù caâu vaãn ñuû nghóa. Meänh ñeà quan heä khoâng xaùc ñònh ñöôïc taùch vôùi meänh ñeà chính baèng moät hoaëc hai daáu phaåy.
EX: My brother John, who lives in London, is an engineer.
 We stayed at the Grand Hotel, which Mr Smith introduced to us. 
* Ghi nhôù: - khoâng duøng ñaïi töø quan heä THAT trong meänh ñeà quan heä khoâng xaùc ñònh (Non-Defining Relative Clause)
2. Adverb clauses of concession (mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ sự tương phản):
Thường được bắt đầu bằng các từ: though, although, even though, in spite of, despite
Though / although / even though + S + V, S + V
In spite of / despite + noun / noun phrase, S + V
EX: Although it rained heavily, we enjoyed our vacation.
In spite of the heavy rain, we enjoyed our vacation.

	Krakatoa (Indonesian name: Krakatau) is a volcano near the Indonesian island of Rakata in the Sunda Strait. It has erupted repeatedly in known history. The best known of these events occurred in late August 1883.
