I. Objectives

1. Knowledge: By the end of this lesson, Ss talk about preparations for a typhoon and listen to an expert on how to live with earths and complete the table.

a. Vocabulary: Related to natural disasters.

b. Grammar: I think we should .

2. Skills: Speaking, listening, less reading and writing.

3. Attitude: Ss will be educated about natural disasters.

1. Teacher: lesson plane, book, color chalks, pictures, cassette and tape

GETTING STARTED + LISTEN AND READ
I. Objectives
1. Knowledge: By the end of this lesson, Ss know about natural disasters.
a. Vocabulary: Related to natural disasters.
b. Grammar: Future simple, adverb clauses of concession.
2. Skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing
3. Attitude: Ss will be educated about natural disasters.
II. Preparation
1. Teacher: lesson plane, book, color chalks, pictures, cassette and tape
2. Students: books, notebooks, pen, ruler 
III. Teaching methods

- Techniques: Ask and answer, Work in pairs/ groups, Discuss.

Content
- T asks Ss to tell the names of natural disasters they know.
* Warm up :
 natural disasters
- T explains the requirement.
- Ss work in pairs: match the words to the correct pictures.
- T calls Ss to give the answers.
- T checks and corrects the answers.
- Ss copy down the correct answers.
1. Getting started.
Match the pictures to the correct words. Then compare your answers with a partner’s.
Answer keys:
1. snowstorm 2. earthquake
3. volcano 4. typhoon
-T introduces the situation and has Ss guess “What are they talking about?”
- T plays the tape once.
- T picks out new words and explains.
- Ss give the meanings and practice reading new words.
- T calls some Ss to read new words to check their pronunciation.
2. Listen and read.
“Thuy is talking to her grandmother”.
New words :
- coast (n)
- trust (v)
- expect (v)
- thunderstorm (n)
- highlands (n)
- just in case (adv)
- T plays the tape again.
- Ss practice the dialogue in groups of three.
- T calls some groups to role play the dialogue before the class.
- T checks their pronunciation if necessary.
- T explains the requirement.
- Ss read the sentences and the dialogue again to do the exercise.
- Ss compare the answers in pairs.
- T calls some Ss to give the answers.
- T checks and corrects the answers.
- Ss copy down the correct answers.
a. Practice the dialogue in a group of three.
b. Fill in the blanks with one word or phrase from the dialogue.

 e. Will she take along a raincoat?
 5. Homework.
 Ss learn new words by heart, practice reading the dialogue and prepare lesson: Speak + Listen.

3. Speak.
* Pre-speaking.
a. Check (v) what preparations you think should be made for a typhoon.
Answer keys :
- Buying some canned food.
- Buying matches.
- Filling all buckets with water.
- Buying a ladder.
- Checking all the windows and door latches.
* While-speaking :
b. Now work with a partner. Talk about what you think you want to buy and do to prepare for a typhoon, explain why. The ideas in the box may help you.
Ex: page 77.
Guiding questions :
- Why do we need to buy food?
- Do we need rice?
- Will we need bottle of water?
- Why do we need to fill buckets with water?
- Do we need anything else?
* Post-speaking :
- Have you ever made any activities like this?
- Do you think these activities are necessary?
- T introduces the listening and explains the way to complete the table.
- Ss pay attention to teacher.
- T plays the tape three times.
- Ss listen to the tape and complete the table.
- Ss compare the answers in pairs.
- T calls some Ss to give the answers before the class.

II. Listen.

An expert is giving a talk on how to live with earthquakes. Listen to the talk, then complete the table.
* While-listening.
