Objectives: * At the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to read a text about natural disasters for specific information. * Contents: + Vocabulary: Pacific Rim, collapse, abrupt, a shift, erupt, funnel - shaped, suck up + Grammar: Relative-pronouns. * Skills: + Read the text about natural disasters then check T/ F sentences. + Complete the sentences. + Talk something about some natural disasters. B. Teaching aids: CD- player, subboard. C. Teaching procedures: Activities Contents I/ Organization: (1’) + Who’s absent today? + What’s the date today? II/ Checking the old lesson: (5’) - Optional. - Introduce the topic of the lesson. - Language game: * Discussion: III/ New lesson: (35’) 1. Pre- reading: - Ask Ss to read the text then find out the new words. - Explain the meaning of each word. - Guide Ss to read all new words twice. - Ss practice reading new words. - Correct their pronunciation. 2. White- reading: - Guide Ss to read a passage about 5 disasters that we have mentioned earlier, read & do comprehension tasks assigned. - Ask Ss to work independently, read the passage & decide whether the statements are T or F correct the F ones. - Ask Ss to compare their answers with a friend . - Ask Ss to highlight or underline the information in the passage for their answers. - Call on some Ss to explain their answers in front of the class. - Ask Ss to read the passage more carefully and complete the sentences. - Explain the way to do it. - Provide correct answers. 3. Post-reading: - Divide the class in to four groups: - Have Ss read the text again. - Group 1 ask a question, group 2, 3, 4 answer it. - Group 2 ask a question,group 1, 3, 4 answer it go on until the four groups ask their questions. IV/ Feedback: (3’) - Sum up the whole lesson. V/ Homework: (1’) - Guide Ss to do homework..
