K: Where are you from, Nga?
N: I am from VietNam.
K: Why are you studying English here ?
N: I need it for my job.
K: Really? So what do you do?
N: I work for a bank, an international bank in Ha Noi.
K: Oh, I see. Did you learn English at school ?
N: Yes, and at university, too. But I have forget er forget .

Objectives: * At the end of the lesson, Ss will be able practiced the listening skill through the conversation of English student and Vietnamese student; listen and identify true or false information. * Contents: + Vocabulary: national bank, international bank, host. + Grammar: * Skills: + Listen to the conversation then check True or False. + Talk about the way how to improve listening skill. B. Teaching aids: CD- player. C. Teaching procedures: Activities Contents I. Organization: (1’) - Greeting. - Checking the attendance. II. Checking the old lesson: (5’) - Answer the questions: + How long have you learnt English? + What do you think of learning English? + Is it difficult or easy? - Introduce the lesson. III. New lesson: (35’) 1. Pre- listening: - Introduce the conversation between Nga and Kate. - Explain the request of listening lesson. - Ask Ss to read all the sentences from a to f. - Explain some new words for Ss. - Ask Ss to work in groups and guess which sentences are true and which ones are false. - Ask Ss’ groups to give out their guessing and write on the board. 2. While- listening: - Ss work in pairs. - Play the tape 2 or 3 times if necessary. - Compare with a partner. - Call some Ss to read aloud and ask some Ss explain false sentences give information in the tape to repair. - Give correct answers. 3. Post- listening: - Work in groups, discus by questions: 1. What aspects of learning English do/don’t you like? Why?/ Why not? 2. Which skill are you good at? 3. What can you do to improve your listening/ speaking…? IV. Feedback: (3’) - The main events in the dialogue.. V. Homework: (1’) - Write information about Nga and her learning English. - Do Exs: 4, 5 (p38, 39, 40 – WB). - Prepare: Read. Attendance: ……………………. * Nga is talking to Kate about her studying English. Listen to their conversation. Check the boxes and correct the false sentences. * New words: 1. national bank (n): ngân hàng nhà nước 2. international bank (n): ngân hàng thế giới 3. host (n): chủ nhà trọ a. T b. T c. F. She works for an international bank in HN. d. T e. F. Her listening is terrible. N: Yes, of cause. I have forgotten a lot of it. I want to improve my writing skills. You know… sometimes I have to write letters in English. Kate: What about listening Nga? N: It is terrible. This is my biggest problem. People talk very quickly and I can’t understand them. K: Do you like studying English? N: Oh yes. It is an interesting language and it is very useful; and I can talk to people from all over the world… and I can understand the words of my favorite songs, too. K: Well. That is very good.
