Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students can: Write a letter to a friend about a place they have visited. Develop their writing skill. II. Language contents: 1. Vocabulary: ranger (n), led (v), edge (n), canyon (n), inhabitant (n), magnificent (a), breathtaking, temperate 2. Grammar: III. Techniques: Eliciting, asking and answering, oral and written, IV. Teaching aids: pictures,. V. Procedures: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities .1. Warm up : * Play game “Networks” -Have SS give World Heritages. - Ask the SS to work in pairs to prepare first, then go to the blackboard to play the game. 2. Pre-writing -Introduce the lesson. . Today we will learn how to write a letter to a friend telling him or her about your last trip to a famous place. Firstly, you read Tim’s letter to his friend. -Introduce new words. *Vocabulary : -Canyon, Park ranger, Guided hike, Edge, Original inhabitants. -Have SS work in pairs, read the letter again and insert the sentences in the correct blank. -Let them cross-check the answers with their partners. -Call some SS to give the answers in front of the class. -Make correction.-Call some SS to read the complete letter in front of the class. * Keys. 1. I was very happy to get your letter. My class has just come back from a trip to Phong Nha Cave, a World Heritage Site in Central Viet Nam. It’s very far from my house. It’s over 1000 km from my house and it took us 26 hours to get there by car. We stayed in a big hotel in Quang Binh. Although it’s a summer day, it’s very cold and dark inside. The guide showed us the history of the limestone which made such magnificent caves. We took many photographs with local people there. We came back to the hotel in the afternoon. We swam in Nhat Le beach. It was really fantastic. The water is clear and the sand is smooth. We felt very happy after the trip. I enclose a photo that I took during the trip. I hope you like it.
