INTRODUCING THE SUBJECT
1.Objectives: Students will be introduced generally about English and English people, how to study English well.
2.Language content :
 A.The importance of English:
 _It is spoken all over the world: Great Britain,New Zealand,The USA ,Australia, India.....
 _Most science books,....are written in English
 _When the two foreigners meet, if they don’t know their partner’s language, they speak English.
 _Most international conferences are in English
 B.English people, England.
 _English people are very friendly ,generous and helpful.They like politeness,gentleness
 _They always want to talk about the weather and natural scenic....
 _England is consisted some islands outside Europe, near France, a very beautiful country with many port cities which attract many tourists.........
 C.The way to study English well:
 _There are four main skills: listening ,speaking ,reading , writing.We have to practice four skills mostly at the same time
 _Vocabulary and grammar are very important in learning English ,so we have to learn vocab by heart and do many grammar exercises
 _Listen to the teacher and pay attention to the situation of using language is a good way of learning
 D. Some requirements for the students
 _Two notebooks : a notebook for writing the contents on the class, another for vocabulary
__Two books : a workbook and a textbook.

Warm up 
T : show the picture in the text book
Ss: guess what the ss are talking about on the new school year
T : ask ss to give some Vietnamese greetings

( in chorus and in individual)
T :make notes of intonation
Practice
Ss: work in pairs and practice greeting with “Hi “ and “Hello “ to their classmates.
T : correct ss’s intonation ( if necessary )
T : ask ss how to identify themselves when they meet someone at the first time.
Ss: listen to the tape ( twice ) and repeat.
T : make notes of the two ways of introduce oneself.
T : introduce the short forms and how to pronounce
Ss: play the roles of Lan , Nga , Ba and Nam before the class.
T : correct pronunciation mistakes ( if any )
