Date of planning: 01/10/2013 Period : 25 Week : 9 Unit 4: BIG OR SMALL Section C : Getting ready for school (4, 5, 6, 7) I- Objectives: - SS should be taught to ask and answer about the time. SS practice to read and to ask for answer about the time. - Developing: four skills. II- Language content: Grammar: Structures: + What time is it? -> It’s ten o’clock. + What time do you get up? -> At six o’clock. Vocabulary: time, o’clock, half past, be late for III- Teaching aids Text book, lesson plan, cassette tapes. IV- Procedure: 1. Warm up: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Content - Number dictation: - Reads. - Write. - Practice saying the numbers they have written with a partner. One ten, four thirty, five twenty 1.10, 4.30, 5.20 Presentation: - Ask SS to look at the pictures. - Use a clock to tell them how to say the time. - Say the questions and let them repeat. - Let SS count the cardinal numbers from 1 to 60. - Give the model. - Practice with the 12 numbers by turning round the hands. - Describe the pictures. - Look at the teacher and listen to the teacher. - Repeat. - Count the numbers from 1 to 60. - Repeat the model and drill. - Practice in pairs. 4. Listen and repeat: New Words: - time (n): thời gian, giờ - o’clock (n): giờ - half : 1/2 - past: quá - be late for Structures: What time is it ? -It’s eight o’clock. ten fifteen. half past ten. Note: a. Giờ + phút It’s ten ten. b. Dùng past / to Số phút + past + giờ It’s ten past ten. (60 – phút) + to + giờ + (1) Dùng o’clock (of clock) khi đúng giờ. At six o’clock. Dùng at trước giờ hay phút. Eg: At eight o’clock. Practice: - Practice in pairs. This exercise allows SS to practice reading comprehension. - Have the SS read the passage. - Call one or two SS to give their answer in front of the class. - Practice. - Read. - Write the answers in the book. 5. Example exchange: S1: Is it half past eight? S2: No, it isn’t. S1: Is it nine fifteen? S2: Yes, it is. Presentation: - Ask SS what do they do every day. - Show them the picture and tell them what Nga does. - Let SS listen to the cassette and retell what Nga does every day. - Explain how to conjugation the verb in the simple present tense. - Introduce new words. - Explain the new structures. - Read. - Correct. - Answer the teacher’s questions about oneself. - Look at the pictures and tell what Nga does. - Listen to the cassette and repeat. - Retell what Nga does every day. - Listen to the teacher’s explain. - Notice how to conjugation a verb in the simple present tense. - Listen and write. - Repeat. 1. Each group has a representative. - Tell the SS that the answers are in the dialogue they just read. - Tell the SS work in pairs. - Call SS to give their answers in front of the class. - Introduce and suggest (A4). - Let SS practice in pairs. - Practice. - Answer. - Practice in pairs. - Listen. - Practice. 2.
