Date of planning: 15/11/2013 Period : 46 Week : 16 Unit 8: OUT AND ABOUT Section A : What are you doing (1, 2, 3) I- Objectives: Competences: - Present progressive positive statements with I/she/he to talk about actions happening now. - Developing: four skills. II- Language content: Grammar: - Structures: The present progressive tense - S + to be + V_ing - S + to be + not + V_ing - To be + S + V_ing ? -Vocabulary: video games, ride, driving, wait III- Teaching aids: Text book, lesson plan, cassette tapes. IV- Procedure: 1. Warm up: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Content - Give questions. - Answer. 1. What time do you get up? 2. How do you go to school today? 3. How does Liên go to school? 4. Do you live in the country? 2. Presentation: - Show SS pictures and tell them what are happing in the pictures. - Say new words and let them repeat. - Explain the new structures. - Say sentence by sentence and let them repeat. - Let SS take notes/structures and memorize. - Listen to the teacher carefully, pay attention to the new structures - Listen and repeat the sentences. - Take notes and memorize. 1. Listen and repeat: New Words: - video game (n): trò chơi vi đi ô - ride (v): đi, cưỡi (xe đạp) - drive (v): lái xe (ô tô) - wait for (v): chờ đợi Structures: Present progressive tense: S + tobe + V_ing I am playing video games. He is riding a bike. We are going to school. S + tobe + not + V_ing I am not waiting for a bus. She is not playing games. They are not traveling by bus. Tobe + S + V_ing ? Am I going by bus? Is he driving to his office? Are you waiting for the train? Wh_questions: What is he doing? What are you doing? 3. Practice: - Let SS practice the sentences in small groups. Ask them to change the subjects. - Show them pictures. - Ask them to close the books, look at the pictures, listen to the questions and try to answer. - Ask SS some more questions about themselves. - Have them practice in pairs. Ask and answer the questions. Then, write in the notebooks. - Practice the sentences as the teacher asks change the subjects. Be sure to change the form of the verbs followed. - Write the answers in the notebooks. Ask and answer questions: - What is he doing? -> He is doing his homework. - What is she doing? -> She is riding her bike. 4.Consolidation: Answer the questions: What are you doing? Where are you doing? Who is waiting for you? 5. Homework: - Write the lesson into notebook. - Prepare “Unit 8. Out and about. Section A. What are you doing?(4, 5, 6) ” for the next time. V. S2: They are Presentation: - Show SS pictures and explain the new lesson. - Say new word and let them repeat. - Listen. - Listen and write. New word: - businessman(n): nhà doanh nghiệp, thương gia Practice: - Listen to the cassette. Let them listen sentence by sentence, have them write down all sentences. Then choose the correct letters for the sentences. - Read the questions and the answers. Let them reread. Have them read all the three parts a – b – c. - Ask them to make questions with questions words _ Who, what, where, how, as in the examples. - Correct. - Listen to the cassette and write the sentences, then choose the correct letter for each situation. - Read. - Practice in pairs. - Practice. 4. She is walking home from school. f. The boy is waiting for the bus downtown. 6. Read. Then ask and answer questions with: who, what, where, how. Eg: Who are they? -> They are Tuấn and Vui. What do they do? -> They are doctors. Where are you going? -> I’m going to school. - How are you traveling? -> I’m traveling by bike. Example Exchange S1:Where is he going? S2:He is going to Dalat. II- Language content: Grammar: - Structures: review -Vocabulary: truck, farm, arrive, to load, unload, vegetable, food stall III- Teaching aids: Text book, lesson plan, cassette tapes. IV- Procedure: 1. Warm up: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Content - Give “Picture Drill” - Work in pairs. Picture Drill Example Exchange S1: Where is he going? S2: He is going to Dalat. S1: How is he traveling ? S2: He is traveling by car. Presentation: - Ask them to look at the pictures shown by the teacher and listen to the teacher’s instructions (books closed). - Introduce each picture clearly and slowly. - Ask them about their parents’ daily life, what their parents are doing at the moment. - Let them listen to the cassette tape and ask them to read by themselves. - Look at the pictures and listen to the teacher’s explaination with books closed. Try to remember the details in each paragraph. Listen carefully and tell others about your own parents’ daily life what they are doing at the moment you talk to your classmates. - Listen to the cassette and read by oneself. 1. Practice: - Let some of them play the roles of Lan and Ba. - Let SS practice in pairs, ask them to answer the questions on page 83. - Have them write the answers in the notebooks. - Retell the usage of. - Listen and repeat. - Play the roles of Lan and Ba. - Reread the dialogue. - Practice in pairs. - Ask and answer the questions, then write in the notebooks.
