I. Aims/Objectives
1. Educational aim
- Students read and guess the meaning of words in contexts.
- Deciding on true or false statement.
- Passage cpmprehension
2. Knowledge and skills: 
* General language knowledge: 
 - Ss know many advantages of reading books
 - Language: Common knowledge of books
 - New words: Words related to the topic 
* Skills: 
 - Guessing meaning in context, scanning for specific information and passage comprehension.
II. Preparation:
1.Teacher: Teacher’s books , textbooks ,mainly communicative, cassette player, pictures showing animals and plants.
 2.Students: Students ‘book , Students ‘workbook, 
 III. Anticipated problems
- Ss may have trouble understanding the word’s meaning so T should explain in English and say their equivalents into Vietnamese if necessary.

A. WARM UP (5ms)
* Methods/techniques of teaching and learning: WHOLE CLASS
Aims: to introduce the topic of the lesson and to raise students' interest.
-Ask SS to look at the pictures in the text book and answer some questions:
-Ask Ss to work in pair to answer the questions
-T goes around to help if neccesary
- T: Lead into the new lesson.
1.what are they doing?
2.can you name some advantages of reading books?

B. BEFORE READING (7ms)
ACTIVITY 1: Asking and answering .
* Methods/techniques of teaching and learning: pair work
- Ask students (to work in pairs) to open their books, look at the pictures, and do the tasks that follow.
- Ask them to work in 3 minutes, meanwhile the teacher moves round to help if necessary.
 - Ask some pairs to report .
 - Give some remark if necessary

2.What kind of books do you enjoy reading most/least?
3.How do you read books?
Answer:

C. WHILE READING (...ms)
ACTIVITY 1: scanning the passage (3ms)
* Methods/techniques of teaching and learning: individual work
- Ask students to look through the passage and read in silence
- Help students read the passage
- Explain pronunciation and meaning of new words which appear in the passage if necessary.

ACTIVITY 2: Task 1.(8.ms)
* Methods/techniques of teaching and learning: . Communicative language teaching
- Ask students to read through the text once to find out some new words, guess the main idea.
- Explain new words (give the Vietnamese equivalents), guide the sts to get the main contents of the reading text.
- Ask students to work individually in 5 minutes to do this task.
- Guide students to read through the passage , then focus on only the sentences surrounding the suggested words to do the task effectively.
- Give students some more words that may be new/ unfamiliar to them.
- Guide the students to read the word in chorus and individually. 
1.swallow (v): read all at one time: đọc ngốn ngấu
2.dip into: read bits here anf there: đọc qua loa
3.taste (v): read a small part or only briefly: đọc thử, qua loa
4.hard-to-pick –up-again:khó có thể cầm lên lại được

6.chew (v): read slowly and carefully: nhai, đọc chậm và kỹ càng.

- Focus students on the statement
- Give instruction
- Ask students to work individually to find out the answer
- Ask students to compare the answer for peer correction.
- Invite some students to report the answer
- Give feed back and key.

- Ask some students to report and give feedback.

2.Students: Students ‘book , Students ‘workbook, textbook, board markers 
 III. Anticipated problems
Ss may have trouble understanding the word’s meaning so T should explain in English and say their equivalents into Vietnamese if necessary.
Ss sometimes can’t understand the whole sentences they have listened or they can’t note down what they have heard
