Task 3
- The Teacher gets Ss to work in pairs to do the role play base on the guideline
- Go around to listen to some pairs and help them if needed
- Ask some pairs to stand in front of the class and practice speaking
- Listen to each group and correct or give marks if they do it well
Divide class into 4 groups
Ask SS to make a short paragraph to talk about hobbies of the member in that group.
Give SS time to prepare then call on the representative of each group to present their ideas.
Correct their mistakes.
Unit 13: HOBBIES Speaking Time: 45 minutes I. Objectives: 1. Educational aim: Students should know how to ask and answer about their hobbies 2. Knowledge: General knowledge: Ask and answer about their hobbies and collections Language: New word : Words to speak about hobbies and collections 3. Skills: expressing opinions II. Method: Integrated, mainly communicative III. Teaching aids: Handout, textbook , IV. Procedures: Stage T’activity S’activity Sub aim Warm up 5mins Pre-speaking 10 mins While-speaking 15 mins Post-speaking 15 mins T divides the class into 2 groups A and B T tells Ss the Rule of the game: Each Ss from 1 groups takes a small piece of paper which contains an activity about hobbies. Ss must explain the word by using their actions, facial expressions or body language so that their team can guess. After 3 turns, the group which has more points will be the winner. Task1 : “find someone who” -Teacher gets Ss to work in groups. Ss ask and answer question: “Do you like.? And How often . .?” Who finishes the task will be the winner. T asks the winner to report the results to the whole class and calls on some other Ss to give out theirs -T gives feedbacks. Task 2 - Let students open the books and look at the task 2 in page 149 - Ask S to work in pairs and read the dialogue together. -Explain the task and new words second-hand (adj): /'sekənd'hænd/:brand-new classify (v): /'klæsifai/ “I have so many books. I have to put them in different places. So, what do I do?” (explanation) category (n): /'kætigəri/ type organize (v): /'ɔ:gənaiz/ arrange landscape (n): /'lænskeip/ scenery/ sight - Listen and correct SS’ pronunciation. - Provide S some useful structures and needed information when they talk about their hobbies. What is your hobby? How do you collect..? Where do you buy/collect? How do you organize your collection? What do you plan? Practice talking about your hobbies and write a paragraph about 100 words about it. Work in groups, discuss and guess the activity Take turn to choose and describe the words SS listen to the T instructions. Go around class and find the person who likes/dislikes as fast as possible. Listen to T instruction. Speak out the conversation in pairs. Guess the meaning of new words and note down on their note book. Contribute the structure with T Note down the useful expression Work in pairs and practice talking about their hobbies. Go around and ask their friends to complete the table. Listen to T instruction. Work in group and make the paragraph together. Listen to the presentation of other group and give comment Create an active environment in class. Lead S to the lesson -Practice the structure to ask about the hobbies. -Ss take part in the lesson Provide S the new words and the guideline when they talk about hobby.
