I. OBJECTIVE:

1. Educational Aim

- Giving specific information about hobbies for students.

2. Teaching Aim

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to

Guess the meaning in context

Know about the hobbies and vocabulary on hobbies

Talk about their hobby

Improve their reading comprehension skill such as scanning for specifics information and skimming for general ideas, discussing.

Educational Aim
- By sharing their hobbies, students will develop communicative skill as well as good hobbies.
Teaching Aim
 By the end of the lesson, students will be able to
- Guess the meaning in the context
 - Improve their reading comprehension skill such as scanning for specifics information and skimming for general ideas, discussing. 
Talk about their hobbies/ collections
Develop their skill of listening for specific information
Write about a collection

Know about the hobbies and vocabulary on hobbies
Talk about their hobby
Improve their reading comprehension skill such as scanning for specifics information and skimming for general ideas, discussing.

Warm up: (5’)
Divide the class into two groups
Show the pictures which related to hobbies in 30’
Ask member of each group write activities which they see in the pictures
Check the answer
 - Lead to the topic of the reading
Write the title of the lesson on blackboard 
UNIT 13: HOBBIES
LESSON: READING
Ss look at the pictures and write quickly on the blackboard.
Suggested answer:
fishing 
swimming
collecting stamps
playing chess
keeping fish
Playing the guitar
- Write the title of the lesson down
Pre-Reading: (10’)
Ask Ss some questions:
What do you often do in your free time?
Call some students to answer
Check the answer
- Ss answer question ( Free answer)
give some new words and the meaning of these words, give example if necessary
Accomplished (adj): well-trained, skilled: tài hoa, có tài
Accompanying; going with a singer, using a musical instrument: đệm đàn cho ai
modest (adj): humble, unassuming: khiêm tốn, vừa phải
avid (adj): eager: say mê
indulge in: allow oneself the pleasure of: ham mê, thích thú
keep sb occupied: keep sb busy: làm cho ai bận rộn
discarded (a): throw away; loại bỏ
- ask Ss read the text silently
- Student write new words down

Fill the blank with the suitable word

Ask Ss to read the statements carefully and find the answer
Ask Ss to work individually, then discuss their answer with a partner
Call on some Ss to give the answers in front of the class

His first hobby is playing his guitar
No, he isn’t
because he is an accomplished guitarist and he is good at accompanying people singing by his guitar
 His second hobby is keeping fish 
he bought some from the shop and collected some from the rice field near his house 
he is not an avid stamp collector
 He collects them from discarded envelopes his relatives and friends give him
Local stamps
He keeps the less common ones inside a small album. The common ones he usually gives away others or if no one wants them he simply throw them away
