Obj ->I liked the dress Kim bought yesterday. e.g 2: This is the girl whom I give my book to Obj ->This is the girl I give my book to II/ Rule for omitting Relative pronoun who/whom n+ which +S+V (of/in/to) that *NOTES: We can omit the relative pronoun as an object in a restrictive relative clause and prepositions stand at the end of the relative clauses III/ Practice Exercise 1: Sentence ticking (p .145) Tick the sentences in which the relative pronoun can be omitted. IV/ Homework -Review the omission of relative pronouns -Do exercise 1, 2 and 3 again. -Make five sentences using relative clauses without relative pronouns -Prepare unit 13: Reading ACTIVITIES Greeting Checking attendance Group work -T divides class into 4 groups, sts raise their flags to answer the questions -T shows the pictures one by one and asks the questions -Sts from 4 groups look at the pictures then try to answer the questions -The group with more points wins the game. - T underlines the sounds : /str/, /skr/ and /skw/ in 3 sentences and introduces 3 sounds /str/, /skr/ and /skw/ T introduces the sounds /str/, /skr/ & /skw/ -T helps sts in pronunciation. -Sts listen and repeat the words in chorus and individuals Pair work -Sts practice pronouncing the sentences on page 144 -T has some students read the sentences _T writes two sentences on the board and asks sts to combine two sentences into one, using a suitable relative pronoun. Possible answers: Ex1: I liked the dress which Kim bought yesterday I liked the dress that Kim bought yesterday - T asks sts to underline the relative clause in examples. -T elicits the example and helps sts to give for omitting relative pronoun Handouts _Sts give the rule for omitting relative pronoun with T‘s help. -T asks sts to tick the sentences in which the relative pronoun can be omitted and quote the reason if necessary. -T observes and gives help -Sts raise their hands to give answers. -T checks and gives feedback.
