Để nói giờ hơn, phút + past + số giờ
Ví dụ: 7h20 => twenty past seven
10h10 => ten past ten
3h15 => a quarter past three (15 phút = a quarter)
11:20 - twenty past eleven
4:18 - eighteen past four
c. Cách nói giờ kém (số phút >30)
Đối với giờ kém chúng ta dùng từ "to". Công thức của như sau.
số phút + to + số giờ
EX:
8h40 => twenty to nine
1h55 => five to two
11h45 => a quarter to eleven
2:35 - twenty - five to three - - > 3 giờ kém 25
8:51 - nine to nine - - > 9 giờ kém 9 phút
2:59 - one to three - - > 3 giờ kém 1 phút
d. Cách nói chung cho cả giờ hơn và giờ kém trong tiếng anh
số giờ + số phút + số giây
1h58 => one fifty - eight
3h45 => three fory - five
Tuy nhiên, người ta cũng có thể dùng a quarter với giờ hơn / kém 15 phút và half với giờ hơn 30 phút cho ngắn gọn hơn như sau:
- a quarter past = 15 minutes past
- a quarter to = 15 minutes to
- half past = 30 minutes past
5:15: It's a quarter past five It's fifteen past five)
5:45: It's a quarter to six It's fifteen to six)
5:30: It's half past five. It's thirty p
