Educational aims : Should know about some festivals in Vietnam such as “rice – cooking festival” “Fire – making contest” “Water – fetching contest” 2. Language contents : 1. Vocabulary :Christmas tree, Christmas card, Christmas Carol, Santa Clause 2. Grammar : Reported speech. III Techniques: picture description , eliciting, Q&A, multiple choice. IV. Teaching aids: Pictures and cassette V. Procedures : Teacher’s activities 1.*Warm up: Guessing game. * This is the biggest festival in the western countries. * People often decorate a tree and exchange best wishes by giving cards to each other. * It’s on December 25. 2. Pre-Reading : - Using pictures and handout. - Checking and correcting. Teaching aim: By the end of the lesson, students can: Write a report on a festival they have joined. Develop their writing skill. II. Language contents: 1. Vocabulary: 2. Grammar: review III. Techniques: eliciting, describing, questioning & answering, role play. IV. Teaching aids: pictures, V. Procedures: Teacher's activities Students' activities 1. Warm – up. - Have students look at the photocopied pictures. - Ask questions 1. How many people are there in the picture? 2. What are they doing? 3. Name all things in the picture? - Ask students to give the answers. 1. There are two people in the picture. 2. Model: This report shows how the Mid-autumn festival was held in my neighborhood. The Mid-Autumn festival was held on the 15th of August (according to Lunar Calendar). This festival was specially organized for children. It was held in the yard of the Cultural House in my village. The main festival lasted for about three hours when the moon is at its fullest. During the festival, children took part in various activities like: singing and shouting, wearing masks, parading on the roads and banging the drums. Besides, children ate a very special cake called Moon Cakes. They are filled with lotus seeds, orange peel, ground beans, and sometime eggs and pork fat for flavor. Children went on playing traditional games until mid –night. I think this festival is a very special occasion for Vietnamese people and especially for children to play and enjoy on a variety of activities. Moreover, children would understand more about Vietnamese traditions. - Ask students to display their products on the board and correct mistakes if possible. 4.
