Period 29: Lesson 3- Part 1,2
A. Objectives:
- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to ask and answer questions about someone’s hobbies.
B. Language focus:
- Vocab: music, music club, hobby.
- Structures: What is your hobby?- Dancing.

 S’s book, pictures, audio and visual aids.

I. Warm-up
- Ss sing the chant on page 26

II. Listen & repeat
* Pre- stage
- have Ss open their books at part 1 on page 34
- have Ss look at the picture and identify the characters :
 Who are they?- Nga, Quan and Nam.
 Where are they?- in front of the music club.
- tell Ss that they are going to listen to and repeat the dialogue between Nga, Quan and Nam.
- explain the meaning of the words: all, music club

- play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen and point to each line 
- play the recording again, pause after each line for Ss to repeat
- divide Ss into 3 groups to repeat Nga’s, Quan’s and Nam’s part, then swapping the roles

- read the dialogue in small groups
- call on some groups to perform in front of the class
- have the W. C repeat all the dialogue to reinforce their pronunciation

* Pre- speaking
- have Ss look at pictures a, b, c, d, e,f at part 2 on page 34 : P.a: singing, Pb: cooking, Pc: playing chess, Pd: collecting toys, Pe: playing the piano, Pf: reading.
- tell Ss that they are going to practise asking and answering the question What's your hobby?. Teach the answers: Dancing./ My hobby is dancing.
- model with a student, using picture a:
T: What's your hobby?
S: Singing./ My hobby is singing.

- ask Ss to practise in pairs, one asks the question and the other gives the answer, using the picture cues.
- monitor the activity, check pronunciation and offer help when necessary.

- ask Ss to look at P1 and discuss how to do the task. Tell Ss to work out the answers for P2, 3

III. Let’s chant
- have Ss look at their books on page 35.Run through the picture. Stick the large- sized sheet of paper with the chant on the board. Tell them that they are going to sing the chant.
- explain the meaning of the expressions: in the rain, very high.
- play the recording through for Ss to get familiarized with the pronunciation, the street, the rhythm and the intonation of the chant.
- play the recording again, pause after each line for Ss to repeat. Repeat the step when necessary.
- play the recording again for Ss to repeat the whole chant.
- call on some ss to sing the chant in front of the class, the rest of the class clap their hands as rhythms.

- get Ss to practise asking answering questions about their hobbies. 
- consolidate the lesson: in this lesson, Ss have learnt to ask and answer the questions about someone’s hobby and to write about their own hobbies
