Period: ENGLISH 7_UNIT 13: ACTIVITIES A3,5 Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to use the adverbs of manner and to know forms of adverbs from adjectives. Language contents: 1. Vocabulary: lifeguard (n), pool edge (n), cyclist (n), skillful (adj), careless (adj) >< careful (adj), strict (adj) 2. Grammar: Adjectives and Adverbs Techniques: brainstorming, pair work, group work, indv. Teaching aids: pictures, textbook, chalk, board. Procedures: TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES CONTENT Warm up (4 mins) To arouse Ss’ interest and to check Ss’ previous knowledge. - Asking Ss to tell some names of sports Presentation. (10 mins) To set up the context and pre-teach vocabulary. Pre-teach vocabulary. - Using visual or synonym to explain vocabulary. - Asking Ss to repeat after word (whole class) - Asking Ss to repeat new word (whole – indv.) * Checking vocabulary. RUB OUT and REMEMBER * Set up the context: - Showing picture about famous singer Taylor Swift. - Asking Ss: + Who is she? + Is she a good singer? + How does she sing? - Presenting adverb of manner In English in order to express how someone do something, we use adv of manner. Eg: She walked slowly. John drove carefully. Most of adv of manner are follow ADJ + LY -> ADV Task 1. Asking Ss give some examples. T reads some adj & ask Ss to say adv. Asking Ss write down on the board. Practice (10 mins) To improve Ss’ listening skills. Asking Ss to listen the tape in p. 131. Asking Ss to work in pairs to practice. Calling on some pairs to practice in front of class. Getting feedback. Task 2. Having Ss make a sentences using Adj and Adv. Asking Ss to practice with their partner. Writing down on the board.
