 GRAMMAR
I.Tường thuật câu hỏi:
Khi tường thuật câu hỏi, ta chuyển động từ/ trợ động từ đứng trước chủ ngữ trong câu hỏi trực tiếp trở về vị trí đứng sau chủ ngữ. ta sử dụng từ để hỏi 9 rong các câu hỏi có từ để hỏi wh – word) hoặc thêm vào các câu tường thuật từ “if” hoặc “ whether” ( trong các câu hỏi không có từ để hỏi như “ Yes – No Question, Or - question). Động từ thường dùng là ask, want to know, và wonder:
 Ask + wh- word + S + V
 Ask + if/ whether + S + V
Eg:He said, “where is she going?”
He asked where she was going.
-He said to me, “Who are you?”
He asked me who I was.
-He said, “ Do you know Bill?”
He asked if/ whether I knew Bill.
-“Am I right?”he said.
He wondered if he was right.
Lưu ý:
Whether thường được dùng để nhấn mạnh sự lựa chọn. Ta có thể dùng whether tương đương với if , hay whether or not, whether.or not.
Eg: “ Do you want to go by air or by sea?” the travel agent asked.
 The travel agent asked whether I wanted to go by air or by sea.
He asked, “ Do you want to insure your luggage or not.
He wanted to know if I wanted to insure my luggage or not.
 -He wanted to know whether I wanted to insure my luggage or not.
 He wanted to know wether or not I wanted to insure my luggage.

I.Report the following questions:
1. “Is there a word of thuth in this story?” said his mother.
2. “ what country do you come from?” said Bill.
3. “Which team has won?” asked Ann.
4. “ What are you going to study?” said Bill.
5. “ What platform does the train leave from?” asked Bill.
6. “ Have you ever seen this before ?” she said to him.
7. “ Does he speak English and French?” said Paul.
8. “ Aren’t Bessie and Hurry here?” she asked him.
9. “What did you say, Tom?” his mother asked.
10. “ Will you tell Jonh what I told you last night?” Ann said to Peter.
11. “ Where have you been, Tom?” his mother asked.
12. “ What do you expect me to do?” said her brother to her.
13. “Is Clive coming down today?” she asks me.
14. “ Would you like any sugar in your coffee?” Marria said to Bill.
15. “What’s the matter with you?” Doris asks Mrs Pearson.

II.Turn the following questions into indirect speech.
