Exercise 2: Wish clause

- Give some examples to review how to use wish clause to express wishes about the present and future

 1. What’s today?

  Today’s Monday.

 I wish today were Sunday

 2. How does he fell?  He fells sad. Why?

  Because he can’t swim  He wishes he could swim.

Lesson 5: LANGUAGE FOCUS
I. Objectives:
Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to practice in the past simple with wish, practice in prepositions of time and adverbs clauses of result.

1. Warm - up (5’)
- Have Ss play game with “wish”
- Ask Ss to write down two sentences on two different pieces of paper, each sentence begins with:
+ I am ............... (real situation)
+ I wish ................
- Collect these pieces and put them into two different bags.
- Ask Ss to pick up the paper one at the time, read it loudly to the whole class
- Play game
2. Exercises (35’)
- Introduce some new words:
1. (to) pass the exam 
2. (to) win the contest

a. Exercise 1: Preposition of time
- Have Ss play a game:”Bingo”
- Have Ss listen 5 prepositions of the teacher: if Ss have 5 prepositions the same as the teacher, they will win.

- Review the structure:
- Have Ss do exercise 1/ p. 28
- Call some Ss to get feedback 
c. Exercise 3: Adverb clauses of result
- Have Ss look at the picture and answer some eliciting questions
1. What’s the matter with him? He has a toothache
2. Why? Because he ate too much candy
 He ate too much candy, so he had a toothache.
- Have Ss do exercise 4/p.31
- Call some Ss to get feedback.
- Listen and write down. 
- Play game.
- Listen to the teacher and tick the prepositions.
