- Introduce the dialogue: Nga's grandma is telling to Nga about Nga's great grandma and what the great - grandma did.

	2. Presentation.
a. Present the dialogue.
 - Have Sts listen to the dialogue twice.
 - Have Sts read after the tape.
	- Call on some pairs to practice before the class
b. Present new words.
- Students listen to the tape once or twice. Then teacher introduces new words by using the pictures.

→ The two pictures are different. The first picture is in the countryside in the past and the second picture is in the city now.

	3. While – Speaking.
- Ask students to work in pairs to look at the picture and the words in the table, talk about differences between life in the past and now using “used to”
- Call on some students to present their ideas in front of the class
- Give some ideas:
+	People used to live in small houses. Now, people live in big houses and tall buildings.
+	People used to walk to travel. Now, they can go by car or motorbike.
+ 	People used to work hard all the time. Now, they have a lot of time for entertainment.
+ Most children used to stay at home. Now they all go to school.
+ Children used to play traditional games such as seek, skip rope …out door. Now they have a lot of modern games such as: computer games.
+ People didn’t used to watch TV, now they can watch TV every night. 
	4. After – Speaking.
- Ask students to work in pairs and talk about things they used to do last year and compare to those at the present basing on the usage of used to.
	Ex: Last year I used to get up late. Now I get up early and do morning exercises.
- Call on some students to read their answers.
 - Use transformation speaking if have time.
My family used to live in the mountainous area, but now we live in the country side. My father used to work in Hanoi. He used to earn a lot of money but now he stays at home and helps my Mom. My mother used to a teacher, she used to be a good teacher she said life used to be very hard, but now we life in more comfortable and happier.
	5. Consolidation.
- Talk about the way they used to be and the way they are now
	6. Homework.
- Write other sentences about differences between life in the past and now by using “used to”

 Moreover, students will learn a moral lesson to live better more useful. They also know their mistakes in the test and do better the next test.

 	2. Grammar: Review:	past simple

- Ask 2 students to go to the board to write the things they used to do last year.
- Correct and get mark.

Warm up
