UNIT ONE GREETINGS
Lesson Three ( Period 4 ) Section B ( B1-5) GOOD MORNING 
Date of teaching: August 25th, 2009
A/ Aims : To practice making ceremonial (trang trọng ) greetings and farewells.
	B/ Objective : By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to make ceremonial greetings and farewells.
	C/ Language contents :
	- Structures:	
	+ Good morning / Good afternoon / Good evening.
	+ Good night / Goodbye / Bye. 
	D/ Teaching aids : pictures in Textbook, word sheets , poster.
	E/ Procedure :
 @ Warm up / Checking up: Ordering dialogue(Word sheets)
	1/ I'm fine, thank you. And you ?	2/ Hello, Lan.
	3/ Fine, thanks.	4/ Hello, Mai. How are you ?
	Ss make a dialogue , then compare with the partners. The student who is the quickest and has the correct answer is the winner .
 T gets two Ss to play out the dialogue, then change the roles and use the real names.
	T remarks.
1/ Presentation: (B1)
- Pre-teach vocab:	T elicits from Ss (s = situation / p = picture / e = example )
morning (s) afternoon (s /p) evening (s) night(s) we children (e)
- Setting the scene: "Look at the pictures and make greetings and farewells."
- Target item: T presents the pictures, Ss listen then repeat.
	+ Model sentences:	+ Good morning. / Good afternoon. / Good evening.
	+ Good night. / Goodbye. / Bye. 
	T elicits the model sentences from Ss.(Concept checking)
2/ Practice: (B2) 
	- Drill: Picture Cues

	- Less controlled drill (B3): Role play "Read and play the dialogues."
	+ T read-Ss listen, T read-Ss repeat chorally
	+ Ss read and play the dialogues in pairs (open / closed)
3/ Production: (B4) Completing the dialogue (Writing) "Complete the dialogue. Use only ONE word for each gap." (poster )

Lesson Four ( Period 5 ) Section C ( C1,2 ) HOW OLD ARE YOU 
Date of teaching: August 28th, 2009
A/ Aims : To practice counting cardinal numbers from 1 to 20.
	B/ Objective : By the end of the lesson, Ss’ll be able to count numbers from 1 to 20
	C/ Language contents :
	- Cardinal numbers from 1 to 20
	D/ Teaching aids : Textbook, cards
	E/ Procedure :
 @ Checking up : T calls some pairs of Ss to stand in front of the class and do the task:
“Make ceremonial greetings and farewells to each other.”
- Making greetings. 
- Making farewells. ( More: greet, introduce yourself, ask how your friend…)
1/ Presentation: -T elicits the numbers from Ss:
	- Cardinal numbers:
	1: one 	2.: two 	3: three 	4: four 
5: five 	6: six 	 	7: seven 	8: eight

What and Where
	+ T reads the numbers sticked on the blackboard, ss listen and repeat.
	+ T erases the words and asks Ss to read them again and write them out.
	+ T helps them correct.
3/ Further practice:
	- Dictation: one, three, six, eight, ten, twelve, thirteen, fifteen, seventeen, twenty
	+ T dictates 
+ Ss listen and write out in their notebooks.
	- Writing out: T calls one or two Ss to write the numbers they’ve heard on the board then helps them correct.
	@ Homework : Learn by heart cardinal numbers from 0 to 20 and prepare C3-5

	B/ Objectives : By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to introduce others and ask and answer about age.
	C/ Language contents :
	- Structures:

	D/ Teaching aids : pictures in the Textbook, drawings.
	E/ Procedure :
 @ Checking up : Count numbers from 1 to 20,write some numbers on the board.

1/ Presentation: (C3)
	- T demos: This is Nam. / Lan / Hoa.
	+ Model sentence: 	This is [Lan].
	- Listen and repeat.
2/ Practice: T has Ss introduce their next Ss, using “ This is … “

4/ Revision: (C6) T reminds Ss of the structures they've learnt in Section C.
 @ Homework : 	- Learn the words and the model sentences by heart.
- Do Exercise C3,4 (p.9,10) in the Workbook.
- Prepare A1-3 of unit 2.
