Lesson 1: GETTING STARTED – LISTEN AND READ
I. OBJECTIVES:
- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to get the information about weather (from the weather forecast on TV or the radio).

1/ Warm up : (5’)
Getting started
- Show 4 pictures (textbook page 74), one by one.
C What are they?
C How do we stay out of them?
Ä Lead to the lesson.
- Observe. Listen and answer the T's questions.
C They are some natural disasters but they damage human life.
C Thank to the weather forecast on the radio or on TV.
2/ Presentation: (12’)
$Activity 1: Pre-teach vocabulary
- Use some pictures to introduce new words.

$Activity 2: 
Prediction
- Ask Ss to work in pairs to make prediction T/F.
1. Ha Noi and areas to the north will be rainy tomorrow.
2. It will be sunny along the coast of Thanh Hoa.
3. The central highland will experience thunderstorms.
4. Ho Chi Minh City will have temperature between 27oC and 35oC . 
5. Thuy’s grandmother trust weather forecast.
- Observe, guess and take note.
- Do as directed.
- Work in pairs.
3/ Practice: (18’)
$Activity 1: Checking predictions
- Turn on the tape 2 times and ask Ss to check their predictions. 
- Call on some Ss to read their answers and ask them to open their books to check again. 
- Give feedback :

I. OBJECTIVES:
- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know what should be prepared for a typhoon, and get to know some ideas on how to live with earthquakes through sentence completion exercise.
II. PREPARATION: tape and pictures about earthquakes
III. PROCEDURE:

- Have Ss continue working in pairs asking them to talk about what they think they want to buy and do to prepare for a typhoon, explain why. The ideas in the box and the samples on page 77 maybe helpful.
EX: A: I think we should buy some candles and matches before a typhoon.
B: Yes, I agree with you. Because there maybe a power cut when the wind is strong.
- Call on some pairs to practice in front of class.
