Unit Four - How old are you?
 Period 11 : Lesson 2 – Part: 1,2,3.
I – Objectives.
 - By the end of period, pupils will be able to ask and answer to the questions about someone’s age. 
II – The language focus:

b) Structure:	- How old are you? 
 - I’m + (age)

Introduction of New lesson. 
- Greet 
- Get pupils to revise the previous lesson by call different pupils to the front of the class and ask about specific pupils in the classroom using Who’s that? and It’s .
- Leads to lesson:

Lesson 2 (Part: 1,2,3 )

2. Look, listen and repeat. 
(10-11’)
- Have pupils turn their books to Page 26 and look at pictures a and b. Ask pupils the names of the characters and what they say. Tell them that they are going to ask and answer about ages. Point to the first picture and elicit the names of characters and their ages. Have pupils to repeat the question and the answer in the bubbles a few times. Repeat the procedure with the second picture. Explain how to ask and answer.
- Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking.
- Play the recording for pupils to listen and say along.
a) Miss Hien: How old are you, Mai?
Mai: I’m eight years old.
b) Miss Hien: How old are you, Nam?
Nam: I’m eight years old, too.

3. Point and say. (8-10’)
- Tell pupils that they are going to practise ask and answer about ages.
- Have pupils look at two pictures Ask them to identify the characters in the pictures to elicit the characters’ names, the ages and the words to fill gaps. Write the question and answer on the board. Have pupils repeat the phrases a few times. Repeat the procedure with other the pictures.
- Model: Call on a pair and ask them to pretend to be Miss Hien and Tom to act out the greeting exchange. Repeat the step but this time have the pair swap their parts. Call on one more pair to act out as Miss Hien and Phong, Peter, Mary, following the same way with Miss Hien and Tom. Have the class repeat all the phrases in this section.
- Teach pupils to count from 1 to 10 before the activity.
- Do choral and individual repetition, using the characters’ names, the ages.
- Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible.
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation.

4. Let’s talk. 
(8-10’)
- Tell pupils that they are going to practise more with their friends. Give a few seconds for pupils to look at the picture. Elicit the names of the characters and the words to fill the gaps and put the them on the board. Get pupils do choral and individual repetition a few times. 
- Pupils practise acting out in pairs, using the pictures in their books or the character puppets. Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. Correct typical pronunciation error(s).
- Call a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class. Check as a class.
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases to reinforce their pronunciation.

- Do choral repetition of the words and sentences until pupils feel confident.
- Play the recording for pupils to listen and say along.

3. Listen and write. (7-10’)
- Have pupils open their books to Page 26. 
 Tell pupils that they are going to do a dictation. Give pupils a few seconds to read the text in silence before starting dictation. 
- Have pupils swap and check their answers before checking as a class. Ask some pupils to read their answers aloud to the class. The rest of the class listen and give comments.
- Write the correct answers on the board for pupils to copy down into their notebooks.
- Have the whole class read each sentences to reinforce their pronunciation.

4. Let’s chant. 
(7-10’)
- Tell pupils that they are going to say the How old are you?chant. Read the chant and check comprehension. Follow the procedure in teaching the unit components in the introduction.
- Say each line of the chant, then pupils repeat a few times. Give a demonstration of chanting and clapping the rhythm. Divide the class into two groups: One group chants the questions and the other chants the answers.
- Play the recording a few times for pupils to do choral repetition. Show pupils how to chant and do the actions.
- Get groups of pupils sit face to face and practise chanting and doing the actions. Monitor the activity; offer help, if necessary. Correct pronunciation error(s) when necessary.
- Call two groups to the front of the class to chant and do actions. The rest of the class claps along to the rhythm of the chant.
- Have the whole class sing the song again to reinforce their pronunciation.
